Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun says China is deeply worried about rising tension on the Korean Peninsula. He says the situation is extremely precarious, highly complicated and sensitive.

In a statement, Zhang said China has told all parties that bloodshed will lead to suffering on both sides of the peninsula. He says China is firmly against any act that could lead to an escalation of tension, and destabilize the region.

China strongly urges both countries to show restraint, and prioritize the security of more than 70 million fellow citizens. Zhang called for responsible attitudes, and a return to dialogue and negotiation.
