12-21-2010 13:58 BJT

Snow and ice has paralyzed air links right across Europe. At Liberty International Airport in New Jersey in the US, thousands of people hoping to cross the Atlantic in time for Christmas have been stranded. They're anxious to get home.

Stranded english traveler Vivian Crosby said, "I mean, my daughter is coming home and I don't see her very often and she's coming home to an empty house and it's just devastating, and we're just not getting anything, no feedback, we came just now to see if there's anybody around, nobody around."

Scottish traveler Dawn Coulshed "We weren't offered any compensation, which I understand because of the weather, but I didn't make it snow either. So, I slept in the airport which was a little uncomfortable to say the least, and kind of worrying when you have your laptop and all your expensive things, so, I made it, to today, I just want to go home."
