Air Force soldiers in Jinan, capital of Shandong province, are seeding clouds to create artificial rain to ease the months-long drought.

These planes have been creating the long waited snow and rain.

As they approach the designated area, the turbulence increases. But meteorological engineers welcome it, saying the more, the merrier.

Meteorological engineer Zhang Dianguo said, "The intense turbulence means the cloud is getting thicker. That means air flow within the cloud is converging, and it contains a massive amount of water. That's ideal for our work."

Pilots find the target to unload their arsenal- silver iodide bombs. They adjust the route and the timing to achieve maximum crystallizing effect.

Yang Zetao, Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Force Logistics, said, "Trying to increase rain is like chasing after bad weather. It's dangerous."

During nearly two hours of flight, this plane covered an area of 15 thousand square meters, releasing 200 silver iodide bombs. The effort continues the next day.

Meanwhile, 70 professional teams are helping on the ground. They're aiming to increase the snow brought by clouds coming from the southwest. And later in the day, they saw success.

Rainfall in Shandong Province is 85 percent less than in previous years. Experts are still worried, as rain is not likely to come again before the end of the month.
