When countering inflation, stability of prices for farm products is especially important.

In his government work report, Premier Wen Jiabao said agriculture, rural areas and farmers remain the top priority of the government's work. This year nearly 1 trillion yuan will be allocated to that area. That's an increase of 1 hundred and thirty billion over the last year.

The government will enhance subsidies for grain production and raise the minimum purchase price of grain. It will also put great effort into water conservancy and strengthen agricultural and rural infrastructure. Premier Wen Jiabao was full of confidence when addressing the issue.

Premier Wen Jiabao said, "Ensuring adequate food for 1.3 billion Chinese people is always a top priority, and we must never treat this issue lightly. We have the confidence and the ability to handle this important matter well."
