Hundreds of thousands of anti-government protesters have taken to the streets of the Yemeni capital Sanaa. The gathering on Friday was the largest in two months of demonstrations. The protesters waved protest banners and the national flag as they marched to demand reforms.

The number of protesters grew as the march stretched for five kilometers. Elsewhere in the city, President Ali Abdullah Saleh addressed thousands of supporters. Saleh vowed to defeat the protest movement peacefully.

Ali Abdullah Saleh, Yemeni President, said, "We are going to face them and beat them without bloodshed and without rifles because you can shoot with a rifle today, but you can't control it tomorrow. We refuse battles and bloodshed. You have to keep the country's resources safe in every district, starting from the eastern side of the country to the west."
