Muammar Gaddafi has made a short TV appearance after weeks of absence.

Libyan state television showed the footage of Gaddafi meeting and talking with tribal leaders in a Tripoli hotel. The tribal leaders were from eastern Libya, the region most affected by the rebellion against the government.

It was his first TV appearance since April 30th, when a NATO air strike on his residential compound killed one of his sons. However, there was no independent verification of the date of the meeting.
