The latest recruits to Libya's rebel forces have held a graduation parade, after completing their military training.

Watched by their families, the new army, navy and air-force cadets paraded in front of top military commanders in the rebel-held city of Benghazi.

General Abdul Fatah Younis, who defected from the regime of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and now has a senior position within the rebel forces, said he hoped the graduates would obey their commanders.

He said, "I hope you are responsible and obey your commanders because they think highly of you and will fully support you. And the military high commanders will provide all you need so you can do your part in liberating your country from the tyrants and the butchers and the traitors."

In another development, the Libyan rebels' finance minister said on Sunday the oil fields located in the eastern half of the country - which are under opposition control - will not resume production until it's safe to send workers to the fields.

Speaking at a press conference in Benghazi, Ali Tarhouni, said the rebels were working day and night to ensure the fields are protected.

Before the uprising against Muammar Gaddafi's regime, Libya produced about 1.6 million barrels per day, just under 2 percent of the world's production.

Production has ground to a halt during the revolt that began February 15th.
