US-Vietnam joint naval exchange enters 2nd day

A naval exchange between the US and Vietnam has entered its second day.

Three US ships arrived in Vietnam Friday. US participants are due to spend a week working on navigation and maintenance activities, medical projects and community service events.

They will also meet leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee and the High Command of Vietnamese Navy Zone 3. The US and Vietnamese officials have stressed that the visit and training are part of routine program and no combat exercises will be involved.
