China, ROK Defense Ministers meet in Beijing on military exchanges, security

Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie met with his South Korean counterpart Kim Kwan-jin in Beijing on Friday as Kim continues his visit to China.

A handshake, with much to talk about.

During their first meeting in two years, both ministers focused on military exchanges between the two countries as well as regional and international security.

Liang said with the rapid development of bilateral ties in recent years, relations of the two militaries have also grown.

The two militaries have been conducting verified cooperation in a widening range of fields.

The Chinese Defense Minister stressed that China is willing to constantly promote exchanges and cooperation of the two militaries and is ready to enhance bilateral ties based on mutual respect and trust.

For his part, Kim Kwan-jin said South Korea will adhere to the One-China policy and respect China's stance on issues concerning China's core interests.

He said the ROK is ready to work with China to explore new areas of cooperation.
