Special attention is being focused on an injured Chinese diver in the lead-up to the championships. He Zi held her last training session while recovering from a leg injury. She hopes to be in the lineup for the women's three meter springboard competition Saturday.

He Zi is the reigning 3 meter World Cup champion, but she suffered a strained thigh muscle just days before the competition. China's first medal hope for the World Championships will have to overcome the setback to succeed in Shanghai.

He Zi was relaxed during her final training on Friday. She will team up with Olympic champion Wu Minxia for the synchronized 3 meter event, attempting five dives in all. They looked solid in their training routine, but He Zi appeared slightly hampered while jumping off the board.

He Zi said, "I don't feel pain when I walk, but it hurts a bit when I add some weight. I try not to think about it. I don't think my injury will be a problem in the competition. I will go through with it, but the most important thing is believing in ourselves."
