China has expressed "strong opposition" to Japan's 2011 defense white paper, saying that the document, which plays up the "China threat theory", has ulterior motives.

A spokesman from China's Defense Ministry made the remarks in Beijing on Thursday. The spokesman reaffirmed China's adherence to the path of peaceful development. He pointed out that China's reinforcement and modernization of its military and defense forces is entirely for sovereignty, territorial integrity and security purposes. It's not targeted at any other country.
