Studio interview: How will disputed island issue end?

For more analysis on recent island disputes between Japan and Russia and between Japan and South Korea, we're now joined in the studio by Professor Tao Wenzhao, from the Center for China-US Relations at Tsinghua University. Hello, Professor.

Q1: From your perspective, will these island disputes this time escalate into a stronger showdown or they will die down soon ?

Q2: Japan seems more active in the disputed island issue, both with Russia and South Korea, so are we seeing a turn or a step further in Japan's foreign policy ?

Japan's ex FM to visit disputed Russian-held islands
