Camacho named as coach of Chinese national soccer team

The Chinese Football Association has chosen the man who will lead the national men's team towards the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The CFA has signed former Spanish manager Jose Antonio Camacho to a 3-year deal as China's national team new head coach.

The 56-year-old Camacho succeeds Gao Hongbo, who departing as coach after a two-year tenure at the helm. While details of Camacho's contract with the CFA have not been officially released, Chinese media are reporting he is the most expensive coach China has ever hired.

The first game for Camacho as the Head Coach of Team China will be on September 2, when China faces Singapore in its first World Cup Asia Zone Group A qualifying match.

Camacho does have a wealth of experience in his coaching career.

The Spaniard gained more than 80 caps for Spain, representing the nation at two World Cups and numerous European Championships. He also coached the Spanish national team to the quarterfinals of the 2002 World Cup.
