Man City hosted Bayern Munich in their Group A match. David Silva met a neat flick from Edin Dzeko nine minutes before the break. And Silva crashed a thunderous left-footer over the edge of the box into the net, giving the hosts a sparkling start.

They doubled the score in the 52nd minute when Sergio Aguero played the ball through to Dzeko who had spotted Toure’s perfectly timed run and the charging Ivorian slotted it home. And that would be the final. But despite the win, Man City, joins Man U on the sidelines failing to advance out of the group stage as Napoli beat Villareal 2-nil to progress alongside Group A winners Bayern.
