China plans to reintroduce pandas into the wild, following years of training the animals bred in captivity for their new lives. 6 pandas were chosen to lead the way. They’ve been sent to Panda Valley, their new home and also the site of a training base to ease their transition into the wild.

This isn’t just about developing a stronger wild panda population, but protecting those already in captivity. For the latest on this, let’s go to our reporter Liu Yang in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Good morning Liu Yang.

Q2: Why do the pandas need training in order to survive in the wilderness?
