Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has railed against capitalism during a speech at the University of Havana in Cuba, steering clear of controversy on Iran’s nuclear program.

This is Iranian President’s third stop in his Latin America tour. At the University of Havana where Ahmadinejad picked up an honorary doctorate, he told the students that capitalism would soon be on its last legs.

He also accused Washington of trying to punish Iran and Latin America and promoting hatred. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, "Why are the Iranian, Cuban, and Latin American people punished and hated in some way by the United States? Have we attacked anywhere? Have we asked for more than what we deserve? Never."

The Iranian president warned the audience that unless care was taken the US and their allies would control the future of the world.

talks at the Revolution Palace in Havana January 11, 2012.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, "We must be awake. If we do not plan ahead, the new future order of the world will be the heirs of the owners of slaves and the capitalists who will impose their system upon us."

Ahmadinejad began his Latin America tour shortly after Washington imposed tougher sanctions on Tehran over its nuclear program.

Before Cuba, the Iranian president visited Venezuela and Nicaragua. And his next stop will be Ecuador.
