Fashion designers, retailers, editors and stylists have settled in for eight days of previews at New York Fashion Week. And fashion designer Richard Chai is one of them. His brand Richard Chai Love kept colors basic and used hardly any embellishment, turning out straightforward, wearable clothes. Our reporter Nicole Israel brings us the details from New York.

It wasn't all hair and make up and hair for designer Richard Chai, but the Korean America designer was obviously tense as his show was about to start one of the first collections to be seen on the catwalk this week.

Chai's designs are considered explosions of color , he has worked with Marc Jacbs, Geoffrey Beene and paris couture house Lanvin.

Chai was actually raised just across the river from New York in New Jersey where his Korean parents encouraged his early fascination with Fashion.
