Wang Lingmei, a care worker in Jiaxing city of Zhejiang province, visits Gan Chenger early in the morning to help her do her housework. Gan Chenger is 79, and lives alone. Wang has visited her every other day for more than a year.

Gan Chenger, senior citizen, said, "She helps me do all the things I need, like washing and cleaning. Her work is very good, and I'm very satisfied. "

Nanhu District in Jianxing city pays for more than 4,000 jobless people to help the disabled and elderly people living alone. Now, Gan Chenger can enjoy home services for free. More than 120 other people also enjoy the service.

General director of Jianxing Bureau of Home Affairs said, "We will increase government input on one hand. On the other hand, we should draw in private money to expand the scope and enhance the quality of of retirement services."

It costs 1300 to 1800 RMB per person a month. Lu Peijuan has already lived here for a year and is cared for by nursing staff.

The Shandong provincial government pays to look after more than eight million seniors aged over 65. Over the next 5 years, the province will get include all senior residents in its medical insurance system.
