China sees 7% increase in exports & imports in 1st quarter

China’s Ministry of Commerce has released fresh economic figures for this year’s first quarter.

The first quarter saw a trade surplus of 670 million US dollars, down 66.5% compared with the same period last year. In the past three months, China’s imports totalled nearly 429 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 6.9 percent.

Exports hit a total of 430 billion US dollars, increasing 7.6 percent compared with the same period last year. The first quarter’s readings feature a balanced increase of both imports and exports, which increased 7.3 percent year-on-year.
