China’s national gymnastics team has made its last public performance ahead of the London Olympic Games with the nation’s selection trials wrapping up in Shanghai.

Many members of the national Gymnasitcs team have already won Olympic gold medals. And they were winners on Saturday as well, with Zou Kai winning the men’s Floor Exercise, Chen Yibing winning the rings, He Kexin winning the uneven bars, and Cheng Fei winning the women’s vault.

It appears that all the Olympic champions are in good shape for the London Games. Team officials say that they wanted to find some new athletes with potential, but the tryouts let them down.

Officials said that for the women’s vault, China is no longer a gold contender in London.

Cheng Fei, Olympic Champion, said, “Our women’s team always has good athletes, but all those females had unexpectedly good performances in the last Olympic Games in Beijing. And for now, four years later, all the problems emerged, so the public may not accept the fact easily. This cycle is normal, and we will gradually make changes.”

Before the Olympics begin in July, the national team will have another non-public tryout to decide the final list of athletes going to London.
