Trade and economic cooperation have become a priority topic for this year's SCO Summit. SCO member countries tend to agree that the Beijing gathering will usher in a new phase of regional cooperation.

The meeting also discussed establishing an SCO Development Bank, as put forward by Russia and China. Its aim would be to support member countries' projects and help fend off financial crises. During the summit, a more detailed discussion will be held among participants.

The SCO has also decided to build up a road system, connecting Russia's St. Petersburg in the west and China's Lian-yun-gang in the east. Analysts say, as the SCO enters its second decade, the organization has shifted focus from security cooperation to economic cooperation.
