The citizens in question continued their daily protests against the Assad government, even as the Red Cross appealed to the Syrian government to release citizens caught in the fighting.

In fresh amateur footage, countrywide protests appeared to be underway. 1 video purportedly featured the town of Manbij in the northern part of Aleppo Province.

It showed what appeared to be a large group of protesters being shot at several times in the street. From the town of Salamiyeh in Hama province came activist footage of a convoy of bikers said to be demonstrating in support of Syria's devastated towns and cities.

The protests came as fighting continued across Syria despite the government's having reportedly agreeing to a ceasefire. Opposition groups say more than 14,000 people have been killed since the Syrian unrest began in March 2011.
