Li Na beats Pervak 6-3, 6-1

The skies were clear and all matches started on time for the opening of the 126th Wimbledon Championships on Monday. Li Na, the 11th seed opened her campaign against Ksenia Pervak of Kazakhstan.

Ranked 41st in the world, Pervak and Li have met once - at this year’s Australian Open, with Li the victor. The opening set was level at 3-all and the match going with serve.

And then Li appeared to change gear. Despite falling behind, at 15-40, Li broke Pervak in the eight game to take a 5-3 lead. She served out the first set 6 games to 3.

After taking her first service game in the second set, Pervak's confidence appeared to be slipping. Li took the next six consecutive games, closing out the set 6-1. She will meet Sorana Cirstea in the second round after the Romanian beat Pauline Parmentier of France in straight sets.
