13-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams had her eye on a place in her seventh Wimbledon final as she took on Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in the semi-final. And the 4-time winner at the All-England Club is looking poised to make it five.

Williams controlled the play against Azarenka with her service game, winning 20 of the 24 points she started. Williams put her opponent under constant pressure taking the opening set 6-3.

Azarenka, the Australian Open champion, had little to smile about as she continued to stuggle with Williams’ serve - the weapon that helped the American defeat Petra Kvitova at the quarter final stage.

Williams was not having everything her own way, though, and was broken herself in the third game of the second set. She then had two immediate chances to break back, but lost them, and then held serve to a tie-break.

But the American continued her torrent of powerful serves...and would take the second set tie-break. Serena blasted a record 24 aces, breaking her own record of 23, en route to dispatching Azarenka with a 6-3, 7-6 win...and punch her ticket to the final of Wimbledon.
