South African President Jacob Zuma and Benin President Boni Yayi also addressed the opening ceremony of the Fifth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Jacob Zuma reviewed the commitments between China and Africa made in recent years.

Benin’s Boni Yayi, meanwhile, stressed the importance of agriculture and infrastructure development in Africa. He said he appreciated China’s contributions in these areas.

President of Benin Boni Yayi said, "Agriculture is at the core of the China-Africa cooperative partnership. We suggest that each country in Africa should use at least 10% of their revenue on developing agriculture. We appreciate China’s help in Africa’s agricultural development. Meanwhile, Africa should also speed up developing infrastructure such as ports, roads and railways. We also hope that China will help us more in this area."
