Seven Chinese activists have delayed their return home from Japan by one day due to the mechanical failure of their ship. They are now expected to arrive on Wednesday.
The failure may have been caused by the vessel’s collision with Japanese ships as it travelled to the Diaoyu Islands. Fourteen activists on the ship were arrested by Japan last week after landing on the islands. They were later released. Seven have returned to China already.
The remaining seven are reported to be in good health and two Chinese Marine Surveillance ships are escorting the vessel and providing supplies to it.
