The high-speed railway connecting Harbin and Dalian in northeast China, has finished its first test run.

The train arrived at its destination in Dalian of Liaoning province after just over 3 hours of travel time. The new line connects 10 major cities in northeast China, such as Changchun, Tieling and Shenyang. And it will only take 80 minutes to travel from Shenyang to Dalian, saving passengers 3 hours.

This is the only high-speed railway in the world designed for a frozen, high-altitude region. The engineering challenges were numerous, in building a railway across Northeast China, where winter temperatures can drop to minus forty degrees Celsius.
