Starting in May the Harbin Railway Administration recruited 198 crew members for the new line. They are all under thirty, and for some of them working on the railway is a family tradition.

Yao Yutong, Crew member, Harbin-Dalian high-speed rail said, "This is a photo of my mother taken on a train in the 1990s. I think our uniform is much more beautiful than hers."

Yao Yutong’S grandmother said, "The railway has seen great changes. The conditions in the past were very hard. It was pretty cold in the winter as there was no heating. And it was burning hot in the summer when the train went to the southern regions."

All the crew members had to pass tests including a written examination. Ahead of the railway line’s formal operation, all the crew members are receiving various trainings to strengthen their courtesy during the service. They must also undergo physical training, including proper stances for walking and standing as well how to maintain a proper appearance. The 198 crews are expected to be divided into 37 groups after the rail comes into service.
