Earlier we spoke to our correspondent Shi Wenjing in Shanghai on British Prime Minister David Cameron's visit. She told us there has been a number of cultural exchanges, opportunities and levels of cooperation between the city and the UK.

The locals voiced their welcome to the visit. Shi Wenjing also interviewed university students there.

Reporter: "This is actually the first time the British PM set his foot in Shanghai. Residents, however, are quite familiar with UK as Shanghai is the sister city of both London and Liverpool. and they’ve seen many cultural communications and cooperation among each other. I talked to some residents on my way to here they told me they welcome the PM’s visit to the city. and hope he can bring more cultural exchanges and other opportunities and cooperation between the two sides. In the morning, the PM had closed door meetings with some famous Chinese entrepreneurs to see how their efforts will be to further boost the trade and business ties between the two countries. In the afternoon, Mr. Cameron will come to Jiaotong University where i am standing now to meet students and staff in this prestigious university in the country. Let’s hear from the students what they think of the PM’s upcoming visit to the campus."
"I think it is a good opportunity for communication and learn from each other."

"The communication is always good but the most important thing is if there could be good policies in the future for more academic exchanges."

"Undoubtedly the platform is great and it serves as a propeller for me to study hard."
