With the Australian Open, China's Li Na was hoping to move a step closer to returning to the final in Melbourne on Tuesday. Last year's runner-taking on Flavia Pennetta of Italy for a place in the semi-finals.

The fourth seeded Li Na was in charge of her game against her 28th-seeded opponent and left her frustrated from the outset. Li, opened up a dominant 5-love lead in the opening set...and would go on to a huge 6-2 win.

And in the second, it would be more of the same for she backed up her easy first set win with an identical 6-2 win to cruise into the semi-final round. Li will now get the winner of 14th seeded Ana Ivanovic of Serbia and Canada's Eugenie Bouchard, seeded 30th. Ivanovic, knocking off top seed Serena Williams earlier, so Li, in good position to return to the championship match.
