02-01-2014 12:31 BJT Special Report: 2014 Spring Festival |

Miao people have their own way of celebrating the new year. They dance to bamboo flutes. CCTV reporter Jiang Qian joined the dancing group at the Xijiang village there.

"I am standing at the square at Xijiang Miao Village. Behind me, the ethnic miao people are wearing their best costumes to celebrate the new year. The male are playing the bamboo flute, and the female are dancing in a circle. Dancing in a circle has very special meaning for ethic Miao people. Firstly, it means reunion in Spring Festival. Secondly, it means their respect for nature. Thirdly, it is a good chance for youngsters to look for boyfriends or girlfriends. Hope this dace will bring you good luck in the new year." Jiang Qian said.
