Lang Lang raises funds for UNICEF

Renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang has held a fund-raising concert for UNICEF at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Lang Lang has served as a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador for five years, helping raise awareness of various charity programs.

Lang Lang performed with 10-year-old Ryan Leung, a pianist from Hong Kong, along with the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra.

He will donate the proceeds from his concert to UNICEF's fund for helping victims of natural disasters in China.

At a charity event on Thursday, Unicef announced that the event had already raised more than 4 million Hong Kong dollars.

Lang Lang, Chinese Pianist, said, "I've been doing this charity work for a long time,so it was a surprise to know the amount raised,and that there are so many kind people.Thanks to all the people who've supported the event."

As an accomplished classical pianist, Lang Lang has performed for world leaders and worked with the best orchestras and conductors.

In 2004 Lang Lang was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. He launched his International Music Foundation in 2008. It's aimed at expanding young audiences and inspiring young musicians through various outreach programs. It also raises funds for emergency humanitarian assistance.
