Dutch Prime Minister visits families of Tripoli air crash victims

Dutch Prime Minister, Jan Peter Balkenende, has met families of the Tripoli air crash victims to express his sympathies.

More than half of the crash victims were Dutch tourists who had been on vacation in South Africa. Balkenende travelled to the town of Hoofddorp for the meeting. There were 70 Dutch people among the 103 victims on the plane.

According to the Dutch Foreign Ministry, 9-year old Dutch national Ruben van Assouw - the only survivor of the plane crash - has not yet been told that his parents and older brother are dead. He is suffering anaesthesia following surgery on multiple fractures to his legs.
