China, Arab countries reach consensus on upgrading ties

The fourth ministerial conference of China-Arab Cooperation has come to a close in north China's port city of Tianjin.

During the meeting, China and 22 Arab countries reached a consensus on upgrading their ties to a higher level. The forum also formed a roadmap for cooperation for the next two years.

After two days of discussions, historical documents have been signed by China and Arab League, which holds 22 Arab countries. One of the documents is called Tianjin Declaration, on which the host gives high evaluation.

Yang Jiechi, Chinese Foreign Minister, said, "This document has significant meanings. It marks we have established a strategic relationship of comprehensive cooperation and common developments. This is a milestone in the development of Sino-Arab relationship."

The two also sign a joint communique and release an action plan for their cooperation blueprint in the next two years. The documents have covered various fields, including trade, tourism, personnel training, education, technology, healthcare, publications, and legislation. In particularly, in international political issues.

Mousa Kousa, Libyan Foreign Minister, said, "We hope China will continue to support the just cause of Palestinian people. We hope China can stand with us in the middle east peace process, like it always does."

China and the Arab states began to describe their relationship as a "new partnership" since the forum was established in 2004. These documents show that China is placing increasing emphasis on ties with the Arab bloc.
