NATO Secretary General Fogh Rassmusson says that next month NATO will discuss the transition of control over security to the Afghan government. But concerns are being raised again about the country's ability to protect itself.

On Monday, separate attacks killed at least 10 soldiers with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force. Five died when an improvised explosive device blew up in eastern Afghanistan.

Two died in an IED blast and a third in another bomb attack in the south. Two soldiers were killed by small arms fire in separate incidents in the south and east of the country. It was one of the deadliest days in months for foreign troops.
