Visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao has arrived in Kazakhstan and met his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev in the capital city Astana. The two leaders held talks to enhance the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
President Hu Jintao's current visit to Kazakhstan is his second in six months.
He attended a welcoming ceremony held by the Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev in his presidential palace.
Later, the two leaders held talks, discussing how to further advance China-Kazakhstan relations and enhance pragmatic cooperation between the two countries. They also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
Hu Jintao says since China and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations 18 years ago, mutual political trust has been strengthened, cooperation in fields such as the economy, trade, energy, security and culture deepened. In recent years, the two countries have maintained frequent exchanges of high-level visits and played an important role in maintaining regional security.

Nazarbayev welcomes Hu's visit, saying Kazakhstan attaches great significance to China-Kazakh relations, and his country will continue enhancing cooperation in the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Kazakhstan is the last leg of President Hu's two-nation Central Asia trip.
He flew into Astana on Friday from the Uzbek capital Tashkent, where he paid a state visit and attended a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
