Exit polls have indicated that Bronislaw Komorowski, the candidate from Poland's ruling pro-business, Civic Platform party is leading the presidential election.
TVN television poll found, Komorowski, the speaker of the lower house of parliament and acting president, has won 45.7 percent of the vote.
His main rival Jaro-slaw Kaczynski, twin brother of late Polish president Lech Kaczynski, received 33.2 per cent.
Komorowski's lead is not enough to avoid a run-off in two weeks. The election, was called after the death of President Lech Kaczynski and many other top officials, in a plane crash in Russia in April.
