Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called for increased efforts towards peace in the Middle East. He also says the Palestinians will spare no efforts to achieve this goal.
Abbas made the remarks at a press conference in Ramallah, following a meeting with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday.
He reiterated his readiness to resume direct negotiations with Israel, if they engage positively in disputed questions of security and borders.
Lavrov said Russia adhered to the position of the "Quartet" of Middle East negotiators, in calling for a UN resolution to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict within two years.
