The Netherlands have beaten Brazil 2-1 in the World Cup's first quarterfinal match in South Africa.
Brazil led 1-nil over the Netherlands at half-time, thanks to a goal from Robinho in the 10th minute. But the Dutch drew level 1-all in the 53rd minute, after an own goal by Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo.
Wesley Sneijder picked up the ball on the right and delivered a powerful cross that was missed by Brazil's keeper Julio Cesar and was judged to have touched Melo.
Sneijder then gave the Netherlands a 2-1 lead when he headed home a goal in the 68th minute. Melo was sent off late in the match for stamping on Arjen Robben.
