Toyota says it received reports more than three years ago of faulty engine valve springs. The problem was at the center of a US recall of nearly 139-thousand Lexus vehicles.
Toyota plans to recall 270-thousand Lexus and Toyota Crown's from around the world. Toyota says the potential defects could lead to engine failure.
The world's largest auto-maker, claims it received a report from Japan in March 2007 about abnormal noise-and-engine shaking, and examined a broken engine valve spring.
Toyota will replace the part with a new thicker version at no cost. It didn't however provide safety regulators, with a recall schedule.
The US recall covers seven different Lexus models, involving brands from 2006 to 2008.
