Iran's Atomic Energy Chief, Ali Akbar Salehi says an important final test has been carried out at the reactor of the country's first nuclear power plant.

The plant near the Gulf port city of Bushehr has been built by Russia and is set to be launched by late September.

Salehi's statement suggests a row that erupted between Moscow and Tehran over new UN sanctions against Iran caused no further delays to the project.

Salehi says warm-water tests were conducted on the facility, adding they were "the last and some of the most important tests before going on stream."

The official IRNA news agency quotes Salehi as saying the nuclear plant has reached the point of no return, adding the start-up would take place during the Iranian month which begins on August 23rd.
