India arrests suspect for May train derailment

Investigators from the Central Bureau of Investigation, India's federal probe agency arrested Manik Mahto. He is believed to be the mastermind of a May train derailment in India's eastern state of West Bengal, that killed more than 100 passengers.

Partha Tapasi, Lawyer, Central Bureau of Investigation, said, "Yes, we have evidence of Manik being involved and responsible in the blast and derailment of the main line. From him, we will gather information about other accomplices."

The CBI sought 14 days custody for the suspect. However, the court granted 10 days for officers to question him. The counsel of the CBI also mentioned two mobile phones and a sim card were recovered. During custody, investigators want to gather names of others involved in the incident.
