Germany beats Uruguay 3-2 to claim third place at the World Cup

Germany has defeated Uruguay 3-2 to claim third place at the World Cup in South Africa.

Thomas Mueller gave Germany the lead in the 19th minute with his fifth goal of the tournament. But Uruguay's Edinson Cavani scored the equalizer just nine minutes later. Uruguay snatched the lead early in the second half with a brilliant strike by Diego Forlan. But the score was level again five minutes later, when Marcell Jansen scored for Germany. Team mate Sami Khedira headed in after a goalmouth scramble following a corner to seal victory for Germany.
