China's top legislator, Wu Bangguo has met with the chief lawmaker of the French Rhone-Alpes regional parliament. He discussed inter-regional relations and cooperation. Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, told Jean-Jack Queyranne that the area had contributed to the development of Sino-French relations through positive exchanges with many Chinese cities.
The NPC chief highlighted the Rhone-Alpes region's expertise in ecological administration, environmental protection, energy conservation and emissions reduction. With China in the process of economic restructuring, he said such skills would provide opportunities for broadening bilateral cooperation. Queyranne agreed that the visit would lead to a deepening of the partnership, and give new impetus to inter-regional development and Sino-French cooperation as a whole. The French host welcomed more Chinese investment in the region.
