Uruguay striker Diego Forlan has been voted the best player of the World Cup, receiving the Golden Ball award. And Germany forward Thomas Mueller collected the Golden Boot, as the tournament's top scorer.
Forlan, was chosen as the outstanding player of the tournament... by members of the accredited media. He received 23.4 percent of the vote, narrowly beating Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder, who polled 21.8 percent. Spanish striker David Villa was behind them with 16.9 percent.
20-year-old Mueller, helped Germany reach third place in the tournament, with his five goals and three assists. Although Forlan and Villa also netted five, they only made ONE assist each. Mueller, also won the Best Young Player award. Spain's Iker Casillas claimed the Golden Glove as the top goalkeeper.
