Italian police arrest 300 suspected Mafia members

Italian police have launched one of their biggest operations against the powerful 'ndrangheta' crime syndicate. Police arrested 300 suspected Mafia members including top bosses.

They also seized property worth millions of dollars. Domenico Oppedi-sano is believed to be the syndicate's boss. He was picked up in Rosarno, where the organisation is based. The biggest crackdown was in Lombardy, where police arrested 160 people. The raids involved 3 thousand police across the country. Charges range from murder and extortion, to arms and drug trafficking, as well as criminal association.
