A suicide blast near a bus stop in Pakistan's northwest city of Mingora has killed at least five people and injured 45 others.

The blast took place around midday Thursday when a suicide bomber blew himself up among a convoy of security forces. The troops were patrolling a large-scale tourist festival being held in the city, which attracts thousands of visitors. The casualties include women and children and many of the injured are in critical condition.

Witnesses say about eight vehicles including three military vehicles from the convoy were damaged. Police say a large-scale search operation is now underway. Local media say the police received a warning prior to the attack. No group is claiming responsibility yet.
