German Chancellor Angela Merkel has arrived in Beijing, starting a four-day official visit to China.
The visit is meant to boost bilateral ties between the two countries. President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao will hold talks with Merkel during her stay in Beijing. She will also pay a visit to Xi'an in northwest China's Shaanxi Province. Trade and economic issues will top the agenda.
Merkel has brought with her a large delegation of German business owners. A series of cooperation agreements are expected to be signed. It's Merkel's fourth visit since taking office in 2005.
