48 killed, 52 injured in Iraq bombing

The death toll has now risen to 48 following a suicide bomb attack in Baghdad. Another 52 were wounded in the violence. The incident took place at the base of a paramilitary group.

It was early, Sunday morning when a suicide bomber blew up his explosive vest, among a crowd of Awakening Council members, or Sahwa in Arabic.

People were lining up to collect their salaries at the time of the violent act. Sunday's bombing, was the deadliest in a series of attacks across Iraq.

The flurry of attacks are aimed at the Sons of Iraq, a Sunni group ALSO known as Sahwa that works with government forces to fight al-Qaida in Iraq.
