China and Switzerland have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation. The announcement was made in Zurich on Sunday, by top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo and Doris Leuthard, president of the Swiss Confederation.
Wu said both economies are highly complementary and show large potential for economic cooperation. Joint efforts are expected, to strengthen ties in areas such as financial services, environmental protection, the green economy and low-carbon technology, as well as deepening cooperation in established fields. Leuthard said Switzerland regards China as an important partner, and looks forward to future cooperation.
Wu Bangguo is on an official goodwill visit to the country. He left for Geneva on Sunday afternoon to attend the third World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.
